Monterey Bay Whale Watch Map of Marine Mammal
Sightings in the Monterey Bay Region
September 1 - September 30, 2000
compiled by Richard Ternullo
Note: Numerous California Sea Lions, Harbor Seals, and Southern Sea Otters are seen on all trips, and are not plotted on the chart.
This has been one of the most consistent years to see Blue Whales on Monterey Bay. Sightings have been daily and there seem to be indications krill are still abundant, suggesting sightings might remain strong. Humpback Whales are dispersed and irregular but are seen often.
Dolphin are abundant and on fortunate days four species are sighted. As is usual for this time of year the diversity of species is high.
The sightings plotted above were compiled by Richard Ternullo for the period 9/1/00 to 9/30/00.
